Diamond Way Buddhist Center of Chicago
4722 N Malden St, Chicago, Illinois 60640
What To Expect
On Wednesdays we go straight into the meditation without an explanation.
The program on Fridays is great for first timers. It begins with a short introduction on a Buddhist topic, followed by a guided meditation.
What Is Buddhist Meditation?
In Buddhism, meditation means «effortlessly remaining in what is». This state may be brought about by calming and holding the mind, when compassion and wisdom are realized, or by working with our bodies' energy channels and meditating on light forms of Buddhas.
Diamond Way Buddhist Center Chicago belongs to an international non-profit network of over 600 lay Diamond Way Buddhist centers of the Karma Kagyu lineage of Tibetan Buddhism, founded by Lama Ole Nydahl and under the spiritual guidance of H.H. the 17th Gyalwa Karmapa, Trinley Thaye Dorje.
Diamond Way Buddhism offers practical and effective methods to realize mind’s inherent richness for the benefit of all. With an accessible and modern style, it works with people’s confidence and desire, using every situation in life to develop fearlessness and joy. We always present a basic introduction for newcomers, and the meditations are guided in English.
