BLACK ACTRESS — Jane Lee Hooker — Montrose Man
9pm — $12 — 21+

Formed in the spring of 2008, Black Actress delivers an authentic, high energy rock 'n roll insemination: bringing an action packed live show and bombastic recordings to new friends and fans all over the country. Having shared stages with the likes of Electric Frankenstein, New Bomb Turks, Red Fang, Airbourne, The Bronx, DiamondHead, The Adicts, Faster Pussycat, Nashville Pussy, LA Guns, and many more. With their influences on their sleeves; Black Actress is a live band first and foremost. This band reeks of its forefathers, in the most admirable way. The Heroes and Pirates of the music history we all know and love, shine in this Chicago explosive.

With double lead guitars, a hard-driving rhythm section and soul-scouring vocals, few bands today deliver the goods with as much raw soul as JLH. Since forming in 2013, JLH has graced many notable stages including NYC’s B.B. King's, Irving Plaza and the Highline Ballroom, Mountain Jam 2016, The Viper Room in Los Angeles, Pappy & Harriet’s (Pioneertown, CA), the Continental Club (Austin & Houston), and the Big Blues Bender in Las Vegas. They’ve shared bills with Wilco, Courtney Barnett, Southside Johnny & the Asbury Jukes, Samantha Fish, Beth Hart, The Blasters, and the Death Valley Girls, among others. JLH recently completed a European tour where they played to packed houses in Germany, Switzerland, France, and Luxembourg, and performed live on Germany's legendary TV show Rockpalast. These women are by no means new to the game. Between them, they have decades of experience in the studio and on the road. Guitarists Hightop and T-Bone honed their love of blazing dual leads in Helldorado in the ’90s. From there, Hightop joined Nashville Pussy, T-Bone joined Bad Wizard, and both women toured the world. But when their time with those bands ended, they realized they really missed the rush of trading guitar solos with one another, leaving audiences howling with joy.But first they needed a band. They quickly recruited Hail Mary, who played bass with Hightop in the punk band the Wives. Cool Whip sat behind the drum kit and got the nod before she even finished slamming out the first song of her audition. And no singer can bring a crowd to its knees harder or faster than Dana «Danger» Athens.JLH signed with renowned blues label Ruf Records in 2015, and released their debut, No B!, last spring. They are currently working on their follow-up record.
