With support from Subverb, Form, and Lamebrane
Hailing from Chicago's southside, Christina Tamayo has emerged as a staple in American Drum n Bass. With releases on seminal UK labels Shogun Ltd, Liquid V and Good Looking Records, Tamayo stands out with her deep and airy vocals, sharp songwriting abilities, and stylistic versatility.
Raised on the R&B hits and prominent sounds of Chicago house in the 90s, she later found her niche in the soulful realms of electronic music. Now as a respected singer and DJ, Tamayo uses Chicago as her home base to gig and collaborate with like-minded producers in house, DnB and hip hop, such as Submorphics, Calculon, Jon Iler, Raashan Ahmad, Level 2 and Dave Owen.
She is never one to shy away from new realms and genres, from the more soulful to the minimal, gritty and beyond. With every collaboration, her palate and appreciation for music expands, gaining knowledge of the greats before and those to come.
Tracks featuring Tamayo have seen heavy support from scene luminaries like Friction, Fabio, John B, LTJ Bukem and Bryan Gee, as well as airplay on BBC Radio 1 and Red Bull Music Academy Radio. Watch out for 3 massive releases in 2015 with Tamayo vocals on Shogun Audio, Liquid V, and Rubik Records, the latter of which features a tidy remix from liquid don Lenzman.
