Please, join us for this free GIRLS WHO CODE event, featuring Reshma Saujani in conversation with Veronica Roth. The two authors will be discussing Reshma's new books GIRLS WHO CODE: LEARN TO CODE AND CHANGE THE WORLD and THE FRIENDSHIP CODE. This event is not ticketed. Please plan to arrive early for a seat.

Since 2012, the organization Girls Who Code has taught computing skills to and inspired over 10,000 girls across America. Now its founder, Reshma Saujani, wants to inspire you to be a girl who codes! Bursting with dynamic artwork, down-to-earth explanations of coding principles, and real-life stories of girls and women working at places like Pixar and NASA, this graphically animated book shows what a huge role computer science plays in our lives and how much fun it can be. No matter your interest—sports, the arts, baking, student government, social justice—coding can help you do what you love and make your dreams come true. Whether you’re a girl who’s never coded before, a girl who codes, or a parent raising one, this entertaining book, printed in bold two-color and featuring art on every page, will have you itching to create your own apps, games, and robots to make the world a better place.

Reshma Saujani is the founder and CEO of Girls Who Code and the former Deputy Public Advocate of New York City. As Executive Director of the Fund for Public Advocacy, Reshma brought together public and private sectors to encourage entrepreneurship and civic engagement across NYC. Today, she has galvanized industry leaders to close the gender gap in STEM education and empower girls to pursue careers in technology and engineering. In 2010, Reshma became the first South Asian woman to run for Congress, promoting smarter policies to spur innovation and job creation. Advocating for a new model of female leadership focused on risk-taking, competition and mentorship, Reshma is also the author of a book entitled Women Who Don't Wait in Line, released in October 2013 by Amazon Publishing.

Veronica Roth is the #1 New York Times bestselling author of Carve the Mark and The Divergent Series. The Divergent Series has sold over 35 million copies world wide, and was developed into three major motion pictures released by Lionsgate. Carve the Mark is critically acclaimed and debuted in January 2017 at #1 New York Times and USA Today bestseller lists, remaining on for almost 20 weeks. Veronica grew up outside of Chicago and graduated from Northwestern University. She now lives in Chicago proper with her husband and dog and writes full-time.
