Join us at the brewery on August 18th for our first Rezident: A taproom celebration of local artist — Evan Foster — with fresh beer, music and food from 7:00-10:00 PM!
The gallery opening will feature Foster's work, wood burned pizza from Hearth & Market by Live Station Farm, and a Lo Rez beer growler auction, each hand painted by Foster. Proceeds will benefit El Hogar del Nino, a non-profit organization serving childhood development in Pilsen for over fourty years.
Rezident is an arts initiative brought to you by Lo Rez Brewing — with the support of curators Emily Dahlquist and Julius Torres — that contributes to the community of Pilsen bi-monthly with local artists, musicians, non-profit organizations, and small businesses. Rezident was created to support local Chicago artists by providing them with a safe and lively space to present their work, while also encouraging a community of Pilsen collectives.
Our first Rezident, Evan Foster, is the first featured artist of a four month rezidency.
About the Artist
Evan Koby Foster is a Chicago native influenced by Cubism, Zap Comix and abusrdism.
Foster credits his Psychology and Philosophy college concentrations and his past experimentation with psychedelic drugs for his bond with Cubism. He claims the cubist medium is a «more accurate» account of how weperceive objects, humans and all of reality, stating, «one can never truly experience an object as it is in a still life — as a single snapshot, but instead always as an ever-shifting perception. This is it's true nature.»
Foster also uses the comic medium as a sequential, autobiographical and warped diary of his own life. His goal is to empower people with satirical and counter-cultural recipes through laughter. This was where Fetusboy Productions was born in 2013.
Foster is constantly evolving, as proficient and fearless in experimentation as one can be, with a solid work ethic that is as consistent as it is inspiring. He makes art full time around the Humbolt Park/Logan Square area and around Chicago's upper northwest side. Keep your eyes off your phone and you might just run into him on the El!
