It’s that time of year when we roll out the barrels of barrel aged beer for our annual Couldn’t Get a Ticket to FoBaB Barrel Aged Beer event. This is the event that always takes place on the Thursday prior to FoBaB, the annual Festival of Barrel and Wood Aged Beer put on by the Illinois Craft Brewers Guild. Our event kicks-off on Thursday, November 9th, but will continue into the weekend and following weeks as supplies last- this year we will have 20+ barrels along with some rare vintage bottles. Do it the Chicago way, come early and come often!

Arcadia Ship Wrecked Porter, Kalamazoo, MI, 6.5oz, 12%- Baltic-style porter aged for 12 months in 10-year-old Kentucky bourbon barrels. Aged in abandoned mines in Michigan at a constant 45F brings out hints of vanilla, oak, cocoa, and coffee. Glass $7

Cahoots MacBeth, Oak Park, IL, 6.5oz, 10.7%- Bourbon barrel aged Scotch ale, aged for 19month in Woodford Reserve barrels for 19 months. Glass $7

Central Waters Scotch Ale, Amherst, WI, 6.5oz- Cherrywood smoked Scotch ale aged in 12 year old bourbon barrels. Glass $6.50

Firestone Helldorado, Paso Robles, CA, 6.5oz, 12.8% — A blond barley wine brewed with one malt, El Dorado hops and aged in retired spirits barrels. Glass $8

2015 Founders Backwoods Bastard, Grand Rapids, MI, 6.5oz, 11.6% – A Scotch ale aged in oak bourbon barrels. Glass $7

2017 Founders Backwoods Bastard, Grand Rapids, MI, 6.5oz, 11.6% – A Scotch ale aged in oak bourbon barrels. Glass $6.50

Goose Island Brassiere Blanc, Chicago, IL, 6.5oz 8.6%- A golden ale aged in wine barrels with Orange Muscat grape juice. Brettanomyces yeast brings out this one’s wild side. Glass $9

Goose Island Cooper #3, Chicago, IL 6.5oz, 8.3%- A rich porter brewed with chocolate spice and barrel-aged for 3 months in fresh bourbon barrels. Glass $6.50

Goose Madame Rose, Chicago, IL, 6.5oz, 6.7%- Belgian style brown ale fermented with wild yeast and aged on cherries in wine barrels. Glass $6.50

Half Acre Barrel Aged Big Hugs, Chicago, IL, 6.5oz, 12%- Imperial coffee stout using Dar Matter Coffee and aged in Heaven Hill bourbon barrels for 10 months. Glass $7.00

Jolly Pumpkin Fuego Del Otoño, Dexter, MI, 6.5oz 6.1%- Bière de Garde brewed with amber malts giving this beer smooth caramel notes. This sour ale is brewed with chestnuts and spice and aged 6 months in Oak. Glass $6.50

Revolution Jamo-Nilla, Chicago, IL 6.5oz, 13.2%- A collaboration with Jameson Irish Whiskey, this nitro vanilla Imperial stout is brewed with dark malts and vanilla beans and then aged in Jameson barrels for four months. $7.00

2016 Revolution Helluland, Chicago, IL, 6.5oz, 13.8%- Named after one of the first places Leif Erikson landed his ship in North America. This bourbon barrel aged imperial brown ale is brewed with orange zest, giving this brew a pithy citrus bitterness. Glass $7.00

Two Brothers Zut Alores, Warrenville, IL, 6.5oz, 6%- A Domain DuPage/Bière de Garde aged in wine barrel. Hints of oak, vanilla, and dried berry. Glass $6.50

2016 5 Rabbits Inigo Montoya w/ Hazelnut, Bedford Park, Il, 6.5oz, 8.0%- Gold Medal winner at 2016 FOBAB and brewed only once. Bourbon Barrel aged in Wild Turkey barrels, this Imperial Porter is brewed with dulce de leche and Costa Rican Coffee. Glass $8.00

2015 Arcadia Bourbon Barrel Cereal Killer, Kalamazoo, MI, 6.5oz, 12%- English-style Barelywine aged in bourbon barrel for 12-18months. Hints of nutty malt, pralines, toffee, chocolate, and bourbon. Glass $7.00

Breckenridge 471 BA IPA, Denver, CO, 6.5oz, 6.5oz, 11.3%- A hoppy IPA aged in bourbon barrels for a minimum of 2 months. Glass $6.50

Cahoots Barrel Aged AmEn!, Oak Park, IL, 6.5oz, 11.1%- Barleywine made with a blend of English and American ingredients and aged in bourbon barrels. Glass $7.00

Goose Island Lolita, Chicago, IL 6.5oz, 8.7%- Rose colored Belgian style pale ale fermented with wild yeast and aged on raspberries in wine barrels. Glass $6.50

2015 Revolution Straight Jacket, Chicago, IL, 6.5oz, 13.0%- Barleywine aged for six months in Woodford Reserve barrels. Features aromas and flavors of dark stone fruits, bourbon, molasses and vanilla. Glass $7.00
