Roy McGrath is a Chicago based tenor saxophonist, composer and bandleader. Born and raised in San Juan, Puerto Rico and educated in Boston, New Orleans and Chicago, Roy brings to bear these diverse influences in his playing and composing. In addition to leading and recording with his own jazz ensembles, he is a member of several others and an in-demand player in the city’s jazz, funk, Latin jazz and salsa scenes.
LITTLE MISS ANN:
Chicago's Little Miss Ann is a former CPS teacher, veteran instructor at the Old Town School of Folk Music, Mom and first generation Filipina American. She is an award winning kids musician making 5 cd's that have earned her NAPPA, Parent Choice Silver Award and Fids and Kamily Honorable Mention. She has played everywhere from Lollapalooza, SXSW, Manhatten, Detroit and recently Pilgrimage Music Festival in Nashville, TN.
Chicago's beloved Mr. Singer plays hundreds of gigs a year: wildly-popular shows at the Lincoln Park Zoo, the Nature Museum, clubs such as the Beat Kitchen- he's known anywhere families with young children like to rock out together. Mr. Singer, AKA Neil Firstenleit, continues his successful teaching career at his own LeitHaus Studios Chicago named «Best Music School for Kids» by Chicago Magazine.
MISS JAMIE ON THE FARM:
Planting seeds through song, Miss Jamie takes young kids and families on an imaginative musical adventure to her «farm» where they learn values like hard work, healthy eating, and kindness to the earth. Miss Jamie can be seen performing every day at festivals, libraries, and Mariano's grocery stores across the state.
CIELITO LINDO FAMILY FOLK MUSIC:
This family group (5 siblings and their father) performs “mariachi”, the traditional music of Mexico, as well as the occasional a cappella & English pop song. Since moving with their 9 person family to Chicago, these vibrant young performers have produced their own album and performed for the Chicago Bulls, the National Museum of Mexican Art, WGN TV, & Old Town School of Folk Music.
