Competitors in this friendly contest will consume two pounds of crawfish in the fastest time possible. All proceeds, including the $20 entrance fee, will benefit Chicagoland animal rescues.
Contestants will be divided into heats, and the winner of each heat will compete in a final round. All competitors will receive a Hurricane cocktail in a souvenir glass. First place will be awarded a $100 gift certificate to Cactus Bar and Grill, second place a «Hurricanes at Home» gift basket to take Mardi Gras home with you, and third place a cooler stocked with Abita Beer. Plenty of Mardi Gras accessories will be passed out to the crowd.
Cactus will offer a variety of food and drink specials from February 1-13th. $1 from each special will be donated to charity.

— This is a FUN contest. Do not expect Coney Island Hot Dog Eating Contest seriousness.
— All proceeds from this contest will benefit the Chicagoland Rescue Intervention & Support Program, or CRISP.
— The competition is a speed-eating format. Each contestant will eat 2lbs of crawfish as fast as they can.
— We will have 4 heats of 5-7 contestants each. The winner from each heat will move on to the final heat.
— Beverages of your choice may be consumed during the contests and one will be provided to you. We recommend Abita 30/90 beer.
— Contestants will eat sitting or standing in their designated area using only their hands.
— What goes down must stay down for 5 minutes after the end of the heat.
