Since President Trump ordered the end of the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program in September, questions of immigration reform have occupied the center of attention for many Americans. What should be done about the nearly 11 million undocumented immigrants in the United States – 3.6 million of whom arrived as children? More broadly, what kind of immigration system meets America’s needs in the twenty-first century? And which proposals for immigration reform could be politically viable?
