The Oak Park Farmers' Market opens its 43rd season on Saturday, May 19!
Go Green Days, featuring seed potting for children, information about the Village's composting and recycling programs, and a native bee demonstration from Thad Smith, founder of Westside Bee Boyz, LLC. The University of Illinois Master Gardeners will also be on hand to offer a worm and soil interactive display. Members of the Village Board and the Village's Energy and Environment Commission will also be on hand passing out a limited supply of free reusable bags in an effort to encourage shoppers to bring reusable bags throughout the season. Market guests are encouraged to bike to opening day. Local bike shops and non-profi...t organizations will be pumping bike tires and offering free safety checks. Guests who show their bike helmet at the Market Information Tent will receive a prize.

This week's chef demo: Chef Sieger Bayer from The Heritage will host a BBQ chef demo with free samples from 9 to 11:30 a.m.
The Market is held every Saturday from opening day through October in the Pilgrim Congregational Church parking lot at 460 Lake Street. More than 25 independent farmers and producers participate in the Farmers' Market, offering everything from fresh fruits and vegetables to meat, cheese and eggs, flowers, bedding plants, dairy products, grains, honey and maple syrup. The Market also features donuts made fresh on-site, fresh coffee and live bluegrass music. All vendors accept LINK cards, and a majority of vendors accept credit/debit cards, as well as WIC and senior coupons.
