Ian Ruhala, better known as HALA, has been writing and recording music for several years and at the young age of 20, he is already a singer/songwriter veteran. Being heart-broken after the end of a long-term relationship; Ian was immensely inspired. Band-less, Ruhala decided to take matters into his own hands.
Solo artists like Mac DeMarco and Ty Segall fueled Ian’s idea to begin recording at home, working with a band inside his own head. With very little knowledge and equipment in the beginning, it was during this time in his parent’s storage room that HALA was born. Releasing 3 EP's in one year, HALA journeyed to Brazil for their first tour August 2015.
Following a succes...sful tour, Ian didn't adjust well to college. After cranking out nearly 60 songs, Ian left school to record a proper debut. Moving to Detroit, Ian lived in an attic where the only view was a funeral home and The Motown Museum. It was here HALA began recording 'Spoonfed', self-described as a journal entry in a life that has been anything but ordinary over the past couple years.
BOYO is the pseudonym of 20-year-old singer-songwriter Robert Tilden. Tilden’s been kicking around the L.A. DIY scene since he was 16 years old, spending the better part of it fronting the garage band Bobby T. and The Slackers. Me, Again, the follow up to his debut Control, taps into his sense of vulnerability, taking on themes of isolation, addiction, and regret. The album is a jagged collection of garage rock and soft DIY indie and noisey pop music, channeling everyone from Ty Segall to Elliot Smith to Deerhunter.
GIRL K is an up and coming indie alt-pop artist from Chicago. In Fall 2017, Kathy Patino self-released her debut album ‘Sunflower Court’ with great acclaim. The album incorporates a unique blend of somber yet inviting undertones. ‘Sunflower Court’ creates an uplifting and delightful atmosphere that playfully balances painfully honest, heartbroken lyricism. Recording her debut as a solo artist and now performing with a full band, GIRL K is ready to send you off swooning and crooning.
The Hazy Seas
Chicago quartet The Hazy Seas make sure you can feel the breeze when they crack open their sound. The band mixes sensible indie rock, with danceable lo-fi pop. After originating in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan while attending school, the band transplanted to Chicago, IL near the end of 2017. After releasing their first couple singles on 7” vinyl via Trouble Recordings the band is working on a full length release due near the end of 2018.”
