Join us for the first Theology on Tap of the summer at St. Alphonsus. We will be hosting the talks on the veranda (weather permitting!) and providing food/snacks/beverages. Here are the details for the first talk:
Dr. Thomas G. Kelliher, Jr.
«The American Catholic Immigration Experience: 1845 to the Present»
About the Speaker:
Dr. Thomas G. Kelliher, Jr. studied American History at the University of Notre Dame in 1996. His dissertation topic was «Hispanic Catholics and the Archdiocese of Chicago, 1923-1970.» His parents were Irish immigrants. Dr. Kelliher went to Columbia University in NYC. He then taught at The Heights School in Maryland before going to Notre Dame. Since 1992, he has taught at Northridge Prep in Niles. He also ran Kingswood Academy from 2000 to 2002 in Darien, Illinois. The talk will show the changing attitudes toward immigration from the start of the Irish Potato Famine to the present.
Looking forward to seeing you there!
