Segundo Ruiz Belvis Cultural Center Presents…
BORINKEN ME LLAMA SERIES
As a preamble to «El Circo de la Ausencia», their critically-acclaimed new exhibit at the National Museum for Puerto Rican Arts and Culture, Y No Había Luz returns to Segundo Ruiz Belvis Cultural Center for an evening of theater, dance and film followed by a conversation with the artists. They will perform their short piece «Menos» and screen a series of videos addressing the humanitarian crisis after Hurricane María through arts programs in some of the most underserved communities in Puerto Rico.
Opening for Y No Había Luz will be Chicago's own Cerqua Rivera Dance Theater with American Catracho (part 2):
The First 200 feet is the 2nd part of a dance and music suite exploring varied immigration facets from the trauma of leaving a birthplace to the challenges of settling in a new homeland.
Direction by Wilfredo Rivera, who also serves as curator & lead choreographer.
Free and open to the public. Suggested donation of $10 supports artist fees and SRBCC's arts and culture programs.
